They're both good poly frame guns. My oft trumpeted caveat about the Walther is to make sure you get a German made one with the German eagle proof marks and not one of the many P99 that were imported parts and assembled by S&W. The quality of those examples has been spotty at best. The grips are quite ergonomic and the gun points very naturally for me.

That said, i haven't abused nor shot a P99 nearly as much as Glocks, so i prefer the G19. i also like the Glock for the wide variety of goodies that can be fit on its accessory rails compared to the Walther and the larger stock of full capacity magazines on the civilian market.

But i'd recommend fondling both of them and see which one feels most natural.

my father is a cop and he swears by the P99... i have handled it but not taken it to the range, ive never fired a glock before... but recently a friend told me it was a good gun...which is why i asked for opinions or personal experiences...

yeah, glocks are expected to take about 30K rounds before death. their mags are expected to take 15K before death. glocks are the AK of the pistol world. less accurate than others, but more reliable and proven over time than most others.

they'll hold groups within "minute of man". two of my best friends carry 19's. i just fired a 22 with 165gr. Gold dots. that was a blast. i've never fired their 19's with their defense loads (+P gold dots) in it, but i've had plenty of time behind the two pistols, and i will be purchasing one when i turn 21. my dad trusts his life to a 17 that he carries at the liquor store.

and i've never held nor fired the P99, so no comparison for me.

yeah, i was implying at least 30K, not that 30K was the limit.
