This is going to be my first handgun. I am going down to the range to shoot them tommorrow, any thoughts/comments on either of these 2 guns?

I have heard great reviews on both and I really like the looks of these two guns (at this point I am leaning to the XD40) but I dont want to make up my mind until I can have the opportunity to shoot them both.

well a comparable glock to the XD-40 is the 23 not the 19. either way id get the glock, if for no other reason than they hold their value better

I have an XD-40 and I love it. My friend is bringing his G23 down this weekend so we can shoot them side by side. XD-40 has an advantage because you get the same features, even more for a less expensive price.

As Bagged already wrote the analog of a Glock 19 is the XD-9 and not the XD-40.

Shoot them both. Decide for yourself which one you shoot better and buy it.

XD... I shot both before I decided and it was an easy choice. The XD felt so much better in my hand and I liked the way it was balanced.

I'm sure you are qualified to support your opinion beyond Glock being inferior based on a supposed "bandwagon". That's great logic.

I would say neither gun is inferior which is part of my opinion, you get basically the same quality/reliabilty/features of a gun and the XD is a lower price

Go with the XD. Springfields Customer service is amazing. I had some problems with the brunrial finish (bought the gun in first production run) I told them i lived in florida and had sweaty hands, so when they re-finished the gun they put the armory tuff coat on for free. Also If you think it feels great in your hand wait till you put a Hogue Handall on it, I never want to put it down.

I've got an xd-40 and a G19, both are great and I haven't had a problem from either one.

After shooting both the easy choice was the Glock.

They are both really good guns and you won't go wrong with either one. I was trying to decide between a Glock and XD a couple of months ago. I ended up going with the XD because it felt better in my hand and after shooting the G19 and the XD-9 I found that I shot the XD better. The one thing that I"ve heard is that some people are having rust problems on the all black XD's. I went with the bi-tone model to avoid that. It was like 30 bucks more than the all black version, but still at least $100 cheaper than any Glocks I could find.

Never claimed it was an american gun, Just the American thing to do to get one. I know Springfield uses foreign parts, but its still an american company. With guns, I dont really care if its american made or not as long as its a good gun. I have never fired a CZ to comment on it, but I am partial to the XD because I own one :big grin:

    UH...

Springfield imports the HS2000 - from Croatia... and has it rebranded. Elsewhere in the world, it is still sold at the HS2000.

    Nothing about it is American.

    BTW: I have an XD40 - I love it :)

    Uh, no.

    They're the same gun.

The HS2000 version is made in Croatia

The XD is made in Illinois.

Y2K: Have you shot both the service model and the SC?

I've been trying to decide between the two and can't find any ranges in my area that have a SC to shoot let alone for sale. :(

The XD I have and the one I own are both the 4" barrel, I think that is the service model.
