I'm thinking of getting a Glock. Which one would you recommend? And why?

I'd go for the 17 then, or maybe even a 34.

If it isn't for concealment purposes then I wouldn't get anything under a full size.

Actually I'm not experienced in guns at all, wanting to join a local gun club. I thought the Glock would be a good handgun for beginners, but I might be wrong, you tell me. :mamoru:

Glocks are pretty simple. The bigger the gun the less recoil you will feel, so if it's your first gun, I'd opt for the 17 or 34.

if its not out of the question, I'd go with the 34. Most people I know with a 17 actually liked my 34 better, and my friend who runs a gun shop retired his 17 for a 34.

longer barrel, extended controls, lighter trigger.

However, if you have small hands, the 19 might fit you better because it has slighty smaller finger grooves.

they also might get paid more over there.

its like NYC.. sure, real estate is more money, but you also make a lot more :dunno:

I like my 17. Fits my large hands rather well and I shoot it about as well as my buddy's XD9 (he can't stand the G17 grip angle). I've yet to shoot a G34; I expect the extra barrell length would make me shoot somewhat more accurately.

its not so much the longer barrel as it is the longer sight radius
