Pendlay is basically one of the biggest proponents of the 5x5 bill starr training
outlined in christopher's routine. I am sure some of you have read these posts he has made on the subject before but for those that have not I figured I would repost. He is a smart man and EVERYONE here could learn from him. If you like 5x5 and are currently doing it this stuff is probably more relevent

I will post one quote in each reply to break it up a little bit:

on a bunch of diff forums.. some of it is from rugged. I am sure it has almost all been posted here once but I figured it would be a good refresher specially for the new people that are always coming and going.

Great posts, very good reads. I've done madcow's 5x5 variation for 2 training cycles now, about to start a 3rd one. I've gone from around a 340lb. squat to 425lb. for 3 reps. Some of the gym regulars I see ask me why or how I could squat 3x a week . . . maybe because I'm getting results, unlike those 15 sets of curls you're doing.

However, I don't quite understand this quote though . .

I always lowered my volume in the last 4 weeks of program. Am I just getting my terms mixed up here?

You can't do the same routine forever and expect the same results.
