    Hi Everyone,

I'm having the hardest time with taking pictures of glass and photoshopping it. Any tips? Basically I have a lot of clear glass pieces with some colorful stripes in it. The colors come out nice but the glass looks greyish when shot with a white back ground.

Check out my webpage under my name under the glass section and please provide any tips.

    Thanks.

 post the pics here. I'm not going to vibranation.com

and it's probably just a white balance/metering issue

I don't think your problem is really with gray as it is with yellow. It's normal for optically clear objects not to result in clear photos, although yours are quite cloudy, but what you're getting is seeming a yellow/slight red shift in your WB.

Actually, all the glass pieces are completely clear and not cloudy at all. here is another picture of just one of the shelves so you can see the clarity...

I don't recall my exact WB setting on my camera. But I chose the one that looked the whitest, I believe it was florescent setting, Its a point a shoot camera that I am using for these photos

Throw a color sample on the glass, then use curves to manually balance it. You can get it closer than I did, I just wanted to do an edit so I could make fun of your watermark.

In photoshop press "i" then click a few points of the glass, then click the info pane, it's next to navigation in the top right. Then you'll see a few boxes with #1 #2 etc with three numbers listed, from there you just use curves in the individual color channels to get those numbers as even as you can or to your taste.

I Don't see the #1 and #2 etc but I see the three numbers listed. Everytime I move the mouse the number changes, It never locks on, is it suppose to?

I haven't shot clear glass before, so fixing your setup is going to beyond my ability. But if you want to put a bandaid on your current images you can always over expose them and then burn the color back on the colorful parts. It's really a hack way to do it though and doesn't really fix the cloudyness.
