all of the above minus the being a guy part. Depending on the man and what works for him.

Although guys in suits and mechanics are extremely extremely hot.

kinda opposite ends of the spectrum, unless suits is supposed to be a blue collar steel worker suit or something.

Yeah Im a little weird like that. My bf is a mechanic and he can come home all grungy and sweaty dirty and id jump him in nanosecond. To me its says "hey ive been working all day"

The suit thing is the traditional business suit. There is nothing like a good fitting suit on a man. Its says hey im "powerful important person" even if your just working data entry. Alot of it also has to do with how the man wears the suit, if he acts like a peon than it doesnt work but if he acts like hes got status that is conveyed.

Now if I could just get my mechanic to wear the suit, lord have mercy on him cause id be all over it.

I always used to think i liked suits, but my boyfriend is a labourer, and when i bring him lunch and he is all sweaty and panting from work, wearing his ripped up shirt and jeans, god damn!!! I have a hard time keeping my hands to myself. Then we go out for dinner and he dresses up, the fact is it doesnt suit him at all. So I guess my preference is whatever they look and act the most natural in.
