girls and lifting weights.

    so my friend keeps coming to me for advice re: her lifting routine.

    this is what shes been doing for the past couple of days (her words)

    10 set of 10 reps of bicep curls
    75 lunges
    3 sets of 10 reps of tricep presses (the thing there you lift the weight above your head and bring it down behind your head is what she originally called it)
    5 sets of 10 reps of flys

    ALL AT 5lbs.

    Now, I'm trying to tell her that this is a waste of time and energy as she will not be doing anything beneficial to her body. Am I correct, or am I just being a retarded meathead?

    I use to tell a cross country runner female friend of mine to supplement with whey protein before and after running. She didn't want to because she was scared of getting muscles. I was like :hsugh:

    exactly. this is why i give up on females when they tell me they want to workout with me and that i should train them. i humor them for a week. if they last beyond a week, then i get serious

    true but 99.9% of asses people marvel over are not squat asses. they are genetic asses.

    squatting will help but not as much as people here like to think it will. it wont turn a pancake into a balloon bro.

    all butts aside, tell her that maybe doing only that with just 5 lbs would be ok for a week at most. she should probably at least do two maybe three different weights. idk, maybe 5, 7.5 and 10. It is pretty funny with such low weight, but girls lift so much less in general. I knew some girls in high school and like the top athlete was benching like 135. the most any other girl could get to was like 75. and plus if she is skinny, she probably not only has no muscles, but little mass as well, so her overall weight is low so she is going to only be able to lift very little

    I'm a girl and i lift weights as well to compensate for my lack of ass. I heard in order to gain muscle its better to do heavier weights and less reps. I do about 10 sets of squats, consisting of 8 reps at 60 pounds. I repeat this exercise twice a week, think its sufficient enough or should i increase the amount of reps i do?

    well what else are you doing? 10 sets of 8 at 60 pounds is a bit much as far as the sets go but it depends on how hard 60 pounds is for you. you can try lowering the sets, to say 4-5 sets and 8-10 reps and upping the weight.

    it's also important to be doing the following:

    -lunges
    -stiff leg deadlifts
    -romanian deadlifts

    look up how to do the following exercises on google. when you can complete those well, single leg variations of the stiff leg deadlifts and romanian deadlift are ass intensive.

    that's all im doing, by the time im done my routine, if it qualifies as one, i have the wind knocked out of me. I'm at 115 pounds right now so those weights are pretty hard on me. Thanks for the tips, i'll definately add those exercises to my routine!

    what the dead beat power lifters say about how to go about setting a goal.

    for squats, a "strong" person should be able to squat twice their weight. so in your case, shoot for being able to do 230. for bench press, doing your own weight is considered strong. so if you ever get to where you can bench 115, you are strong.

    I personally never got near the goal for squats. But with chicken legs, it is ok. if you want goals and a body builder look, start there.

    nudes made good points, you are doing a bit too many sets.

    i used to just always do like 5 3 1 pyramid type thing. so it would go: (lets assume 60 is the most you can do)

    3 sets of 5 reps at 40
    3 sets of 3 reps at 50
    then get help doing the one repetition at 60

    instead of doing 10 sets of 8.

    do you have cuts at all, or want cuts?
