I finally got my Atama Mundial #9 A3, but that shit is so fucking huge. Maybe cause my past gi's have been midget A2 small, but A3 is too much for me. I can probably fit both my arms in 1 sleeve and still have space. I'll take a pic of myself in it this afternoon.

So how are you suppose to shrink it? The first wash was in hot water. Can I keep washing in hot water + dryer it? The first wash kinda made a difference but it still feels big. I feel like a kid in it :hs:

(Atama Rep recommended me an A3 since I was in between size. The sleeves are perfect length and the pants are AMAZING)

Yep, all you can do is hot water wash and high heat dry. And hope. After about 3 hot wash/hot dry cycles - you're about as shrunk as you're going to get. It might shrink a tad more after that but not noticeable.

yeah A3 is a pretty large size. Most people between 5'6" and 5'10" use an a1 or a2

I'm 6"0, 160lb. Height of an A3, weight of an A2. I have 2 A2's and they are kinda short. My luckys have shrunk to an A1. My Ouano's are perfect. And yes, I'm kind of small.

As long as it's not like the luckys I got where it slowly shrinks 1 size down. My lucky Gi jacket is close to my elbows. It's almost like a T-shirt gi. Shit's illegal as fuck. I'll give it another hot/hot wash after class tomorrow.

maybe an a3 jacket with a2 pants. but after training for months, a natural drop in weight will put in back into an a2 coat.

that is absolutely horrible advice. if anything you want the gi to be a little small/short. no need to give your opponents more material to grab onto if you dont have to.

and if you worry about a snug gi shrinking, just hang dry it after a cold water wash.

    5'11" 155 with monkey arms

tall enough with arms long enough for an a3. but weight falls in a2. so i just rock an a2 all around. after they dryer shrink i end up with a slight high-waters and alligator arm sleeves. but they still measure up just fine for comp rules.

Guy makes 300k/yr. He wears an old Atama now though :hs: I personally don't like the gi but it was a gi. Shit was too small and thick. If it wasn't for that gi, I wouldn't of been able to train on sundays cause my main gi was drying

I have never thrown my gi in the dryer (I air dry), and I wash in cold/cold temps. I must of got the short end of the straw. But I'm going to treat this gi like it's my baby.

    fail.

I TYPICALLY air dry mine but drying it on medium heat hasn't done anything except make it softer. if you're not washing and drying on hot - you're fine.

Never waste a mat day because your gi is "drying".. Put that fucker on the mat.. You sweat, bleed, rip, pull, fart in it.. It isn't a fucking silk pantie.. Put it in the dryer when the dry time gets in the way of mat time.

I've never wasted a mat day cause of my gi. It's all good. That's what this extra gi is for.
