I've been looking at the gi sizing charts, and weight-wise I am an A1, but height-wise I am an A2.

The A1 sizes I've fit so far are short on both the sleeves and pants. I have yet to try out an A2, but I'm afraid they are too baggy, since the A1 hugs my body perfectly.

Should I go for a gi size by weight, or by height?

    For rolling in class: weight.

BIG tournaments you have to get a length wize fitting.

I'm kinda like you. 5'8" but 145 (lean, bitches) so I get an A2, put it in the dryer a little bit to shrink it to like A 1 1/2

I feel your pain. I'm 6"0 but 150ish. Very thin/lean. For arms length, I'm an A3, but bodywise, A2. My pants should be an A3 based on length, but even my current A2 drawstring goes down to my ankles (when it's not tied). :wtc:

I got a size 7 and the pants were wide as shit. They were wider than my bathroom door the first time I hung them up. They shrunk in a lot though when I washed/dried them.

I doubt it would be THAT much bigger and you could shrink an A2 down if it was too big.

edit: I went back and changed the size, it was just a 7 not A7.

Get the A2 and stick it in the wash with warm water. It should help shrink it a little bit so its not as baggy for you.

5'9 180, booya son. BOOYA. Sitting pretty for the 169 cut for Naga. Nothing like buying A3's and needing A1 belts. ;) Stupid 30 inch waist.
