my question is what does he consider heavy lifting.....i mean should i literally be using 20lbs dumbbells for chest for 2 weeks for 50 reps since he said light weights are ok and cardio?

or after a week can i pretty much go back to my normal routine, i dont go under 8 reps ever really so?

I think you'd be okay even with your stuff, just stay far away from failure type reps

If I was me I'd do something like....take a weight I could do for 20 reps, but only do it ten. Lift for a light-medium pump and that's it.

Just keep the weight light enough to avoid pressure in your face/eyes and I'd think you'd be okay. :dunno:

I don't understand you guys

You're getting surgery on your eye and the doc said to stay away from heavy lifting... so stay away from heavy lifting!

I mean, when it comes to your sight, is that something you really want to be messing with?

If you need clarification for what type of lifting, if any, you're allowed to do then talk to the doc. Explain your routine, and ask him what exercises you can do, and what weights you should stick with.

I think the reason you cannot lift is because lifting heavy strains the eyes and after laser surgery you run the rusk of tearing the scar tissue or something. Either way, check with the doc because "heavy" might be 30lbs or it might be 100lbs. Who knows.

I doubt the Dr. is going to be able to give him an accurate definintion of heavy.

All dr's i've delt with would have trouble lifting a 20lb db off the ground. I think heavy is relative to the person lifting it. PB probably knows his body and what is heavy more than the dr would.

Yeah, but that is precisely my point. For PB heavy might be a 80lb DB, so he'd stay away from those. To the Doc, heavy might be a 30lb DB. Point is, when it comes to your eyes, I am not sure I'd take any risks.

Maybe take a week off of no lifting, and then the second week come back with really light weights and simple movements. I can't imagine that deads or squats would be any good.

Perhaps I am too careful, but a week or two off the gym is worth not having to worry about messing something up.

I'm with DTR. It's your eyes. Just take a week off and come back light the next week.

I agree with you man, don't fuck with your eyes
plus haven't you been lifting consistently for a very long time? You might come back stronger and bigger if you break for 1-2 weeks

Yeah, it won't be the end of the world.

PB can take 2 weeks off and then spend a week in the gym and gain everything back.

    Sounds like a good plan.

Maybe for that week you're off just do some cardio and keep the diet real strict.

patty fuck these haters. i took 1 week off and came back lifting exactly as heavy as i left. i was warned not to do any full contact sports for at least two months, i was kickboxing two weeks later.

tbh your eyes won't be fully healed for several months after, and you won't be able to see well in the dark for the rest of your life, but you can't let that get in the way of your reps

You can't see well in the dark? Fuck that shit! There are certain things that are hard enough to see in the dark if you live in certain areas. :hsugh:
