On June 12th, I ordered a holster from Lou Alessi. When I placed the order, he said it would take 4-6 weeks for delivery. Starting at 4 weeks, I began checking the mailbox every day hoping to find it, or a slip stating that it's in my apartment office. After 6.5 weeks, I emailed Lou, and he said that he was going into surgery that afternoon, and that the leather was cut, and when he went back to work in 2 weeks, he'd get it put together and send it to me. Over a month has gone by since that email and I still don't have my holster.

I want to email him again, but I don't want to come off as naggy. I'm just getting antsy because I don't have a holster right now, so for me, no holster = no carry. I understand that he's a busy man, and sometimes gets backlogged, but twice the projected wait time seems a little excessive. Should I email him, or keep checking the mail every day in hopes that he finally gets it shipped?:sadwavey:

Send him an email on Monday stating, "you just wanted to make sure it wasn't incorrectly delivered, and were just checking status."

See if he can give you an estimated delivery date, then check around a couple days after that date.

    Whattaya think?

    How's this sound?
    Hello Lou,
I hope your surgery went well and you made a good recovery. I was wondering what the status of my holster is.

Thank you so much for your time,
    Laurel

I don't think there's a holster maker out there that doesn't know how eager people are to get their product. :big grin: Welcome to waiting for good leather!

I would really ask how he is doing in terms of getting back to normal (everyday life, work)

If the man had complication from his surgery, you don't want to be rude.

In being sincere and showing more concern for him over your holster, you could get your holster much faster

I hope I hear back soon.

I'm the most neurotic person I know. I check tracking numbers like 5 times every day. :hs:

If no holster = no carry, why don't you just get a cheap one you can use right away until the good stuff shows up?

    Hey Laurel,
I'm going to give MG a spare snubby holster I have laying around the next time I see him so you can use until you get your holster.

Either that, or send me your addy, and I can mail it to you for now.

    Here's the response that I got -
Hi Laurel, I'm still home recuperating. It will be about three weeks before that holster can get done.
    Lou

Ari - I'm a lefty. I suppose I could draw then switch hands. :dunno:

I bet if you would have been more concerned about his well being he would have responded "I will get your holster shipped by the end of next week" :wiggle:

It's one of those types that can be switched to a lefty. I'll give it to him and you figure out if it can work for you or not in the mean time until you get your real holster. :)

It's been another month, and an additional week past when he said it would be done (3rd estimate).

I emailed him because we're buying a house and I'll be moving soon, and I don't want it shipped to the old address. I didn't even ask when it will be done, at this point it doesn't matter. The gun is just a cute safe ornament.

Hopefully he's like "oh hi there, I have the holster done, and I'm so sorry for making you wait FOREVER. Here's the holster for free, and I included a titanium 642 with the crimson laser grip because I took so long. Oh, and I packed the box with cash."

It just really gets to me when companies promise something then continually amend their original promise because they can't meet the standards that THEY set for themselves. If he had said it'll be a year, then I'd have bought a shitty holster for the meantime, but he didn't.
