    *Yes I read the sticky
*Yes I've done my own research

I'm just nervous and looking for some input for people who might have them in or have an SO with one in.

    I'm scared of those.

Mostly just because I fear surgical procedures in my nether regions... and I am also adjusted to birth control pill amounts of hormone :noes:

    Best of luck to you

I think they're an absolutely fantastic idea.

I'm also proof that they don't work 100%. But maybe technology has changed in the last 26 years :big grin:

My wife has had hers for over a year and loves it. Its a mirena. It hurt when she had it put in, but other than that it hasnt bothered her one bit. She also has little to no periods on it, which is always a plus.

And Kinks, technology has changed alot. You have a higher chance of getting pregnant after a tubal ligation than you do with Mirena IUD.

Also there is nothing surgical about sticking it in there. It is just uncomfortable because you are having something the size of your hand, in the shape of a T, stick up inside you.

I dont see how anyone can complain about the price either. Mirena has a payment plan if your insurance doesnt cover it. You pay 50/mo for a year...then you have another 4 years where you are covered without paying a thing. Sounds great to me...which is why we decided to go with it.

Paraguard is not nearly as good as Mirena when it comes to preventing pregnancy (which is the point is it not?). Mirena also has VERY low levels of hormones. You may be protected for 10 years, but I certainly would have any piece of mind with paragard, there are many people even in this forum who have become pregnant with it in there. And like I said, mirena offers a payment plan to EVERYONE. They pay for it in full and send it off to your doctor, and then you pay them back (and you are given different payment options)

I could go on and on, but I'll limit it to not getting the wife/so/etc pregnant?

Well.. this may not be quite what you want to hear, but.
A friend of mine had one of these inserted just a couple of years back, and it was effective. However her boyfriend.. one night, I'm not sure how long after, well.. felt a prick in the end of his penis. It wasn't in the correct place. Now they can't say whether it was put in wrongly, or just slipped with bad luck + heavy periods. But apparently a few do hae this problem. But, she had it replaced, and never had any further problems, so it really didn't affect her in the long run. And I do believe her boyfriend made a full recovery, although I never asked. :big grin:

My mom and step-dad are ob-gyn's and i used to hang out at the office after school. I remember hearing the women screaming when they got the UID removed.

My girl has it in her. She had really bad cramps for like 6 weeks and finally she's back to normal. However, in one position I can feel it rubbing my penis, and not in a good way. Kinda like a corner of a box rubbing the head of my penor :o So far of all the positions, I can feel it when she's on top facing me.

  20. How about using a condom, they don't have the best ever success rate, but they work well enough for me. :hsughno:

Ive had one for about seven years, about to go in and get it out (maybe replaced, maybe not...jury still out on that). Its a copper one, no hormones. It hurt like a motherfucker to get it in and a few days of bad cramping.

I still have fairly regular periods, and i have cramps along with them that are mild with the occasional sharp shooting stabbing pain. thats the only downside i would say. other than that, birth control you dont need to worry about rocks!

oh I have had a guy say that no matter what position we were in, the string that hangs down irritated the tip of his penis. but no one else has complained.
