squats, cleans, snatches, etc. Stretching every chance you get, holding stretches for long periods of time

Deadlifts. I increased my verticle 7" in one year of running track on college level. So much of jumping is genetics.

ummm it depends what muscles you're stretching. Static stretching your hamstrings will decrease your vertical.

But conversely it will help prevent the ever-so-common hamstring injuries which athletes frequently experience, am i rite?

Hamstrings and lats are the hidden key to running fast.

You're saying increasing flexibility of the hamstrings doesn't help prevent pulling your hamstring?

Its been pretty much accepted for years that stretching doesnt reduce risk of injury.

so a guy with hamstrings so tight that he can barely bend over with his legs straight is at no more risk of pulling them when doing something athletic like running or wrestling as hard as they can than a guy who could touch his toes with his back at neutral and no bend in his legs (i don't even know if such a thing is possible, but if it is that's as flexible as one could get I'd imagine).

There are studies that conflict with each other, hardly definitive. I fully reject what you've said though. Muscles that are cold are more prone to tear than warmer ones, PROPER streching can enable a nice warm up.

Most of those studies that reject streching are very skewed.

Not sure about exact measurements, but I increased my verticle a decent amount by doing high rep/low weight squats (going really deep) and working lunges into my leg days. I can almost grab rim @ 5' 9" and 210lbs. I hoping when I cut and shave off some more pounds and body fat I will be able to get it. It is one of my goals by this summer.

I think I understand why Ceaze makes one definitive post in a thread and then never returns again.
