i originally was planning on buying a sporty car this summer/fall but now i'm leaning toward buying just a beater and a decent bike.

i'm a fairly new rider so i don't want anything really sporty. i'm looking more for a stylish bike.

these are the bikes i am considering:

    Kawasaki W650
    Suzuki SV650
    Ducati Monster 620
    Triumph Speed Triple (very unlikely)

which bikes would you guys recommend and why?

    thanks :)

EDIT: i meant Speed Four, or whichever Triumph's the 600cc one.

because he has one :big grin:

nah, they're great handling bikes, with very little plastic for a beginner to break, and not too much power, but enough.

 do you have anything to say about the other three bikes too?

I would advise against the speed triple, it's not really a beginner's bike, it's esentially a daytona 955i with no plastic, unless you buy a 98 or older, then it's a 595 IIRC, and would prbably be Ok
same for the speed 4, it would be like going out and getting a new R6, pretty similar HP and handling I've read. a 2k1 or older TT600 may not be too bad.. decent bike, but there's the whole plastic thing..

I don't think any of what you mentioned are a BAD choice, it comes down to preference I guess, I'd shy away from the duc as a first bike, parts could just get too spendy.
