I am thinking of getting a surplus pistol for my first handgun. My friend just picked up a P6 and I really like it. After some new springs are in it I think I'll love it. However, I keep going back to the P7. That fixed barrel is awesome and I think I'll like the grip safety for a ccw weapon.

Is the P7 worth more than double the price of a P6?

Both are very high quality guns. The main difference is that the P7 is very unique where as the P6 is more "ordinary". Get either, or better yet, save up and get both.

The other thing is my father already has a Sig P226 Elite that I can borrow at any time...I feel like diversifying and getting the H&K.

(This is a special version P7, but you can still get wood grips and have it look like this...)

If you are short on cash, get the P6, but I would save for the P7. I like the design so much I trust it as my CCW.

I assume the P7's don't have the JHP feeding issues the P6s do? Can the P7 PSP handle +P loads?

P7s are really nice. They would make a great carry gun...I just wouldn't pay full price for one :o

:werd: I wouldn't mind one but have a hard time justifying 7 bills for a used handgun :hs: If I do end up going with something slim it'll probably be the walther.

What is full price? They are not made by Hk anymore so you can't get one new from the factory and it's likely that he would get a German police trade-in. The trade-ins go for $599 for Grade B (excellent internals with some holster/general wear) or $674 for Grade A (excellent internals with minimal wear).

Yeah 600-700 for a used carry gun doesn't sound appealing to me when I could get a new Glock and some nice leather or a class.

I'm not knocking them at all, HK pistols just aren't my thing. Now some of their rifles...:naughty:

While both are technically out of production, I'd get the Sig to learn on since it's cheaper. It will still carry very well, but it is bigger than the P7(I think). P7s are nice if you have the bank, and I would like to try to shoot one some day. They seem like they'd be pretty smooth.

with that in mind the P6 trade ins do have the HP feeding problem so if you can get that fixed then I'd say go for it.

The latter made P6's work with hollow points, (better feed ramps maybe?), but I haven't ben able to find out which serial numbers feed HP.

It seems you can get an upgraded P225 barrel or get your feed ramps remachined for $45 to fix the JHP issue. I'd rather not send off a gun I just purchased though.

I still have an enormous hard-on for a P7 but I haven't found the expendable income yet to make it happen... maybe that's what taxes will do for me! If I had the chance to shoot one I'd probably end up having to buy one.

My dad is picking up one of those surplus P6's, should be here in a few weeks apparently. Looks like an awesome deal to me but I know there are those who don't care for Sig's.

Where are you guys seeing each of these? I know CDNN has P7's, anywhere else?
