ok ive got a lil cheap self defense pistol(hi point .380) and im 20 years old. i read online that georgia law states that i can possess the pistol, as long as its not on my person(for example i can keep it in my glove box or in my house). do i need any paperwork or registration on it? i bought it from a guy in my neighborhood. all serial numbers and stuff are still on it, but it came with no papers or anything, just the pistol itself. im kinda rambling(painkillers, got wisdom teeth pulled yesterday), but i basically just wanna know if under current georgia law, its ok for me to have pistol in my glove box? do i need to have magazine removed from it or anything when in the glove box?

Your might be better off reading your local state laws then listening to someone on the internet.

for one your friend sold you a horrible firearm.

    anyways

I'd recommend that you just keep it at home. Since you have a private party bought gun. No need to take any chances until that thing is transfered to you through a ffl.

i'm in georgia, you can have it in your car, has to be locked up in glovebox or in plain view ( i don't get that last part... )

always declare it if you get pulled over, and never have it on your person, you are under 21 so you can't purchase pistol from FFL dealer but you can purchase/posess privately

You can carry open, in plain view or in a glovebox without a permit. However I would wait until your are 21 unless you are in a rural area. Cops in Atlanta are not real good with laws and you may get hasseled if something happened.

For a car gun I would pick up a 9mm or bigger. I have a 380 but only because I can drop it in a pocket and it is a smaller profile than my cell phone. If I have to use it, it will be a last ditch close up thing. If size is not an issue a 9mm, .40, or, 45 is better

If you are under 21, you CANNOT carry it in your car AT ALL in GA.

    OCGA 16-11-126:
    OCGA 16-11-129:
You do not need a license to carry in your car, but you must be eligible for a license to do so.

If you are under 21, you are NOT eligible for a Georgia Firearms License. Therefore, car carry is illegal for you.
