Just for kicks I pulled this up on IMDB. Production is starting this month, and they have a partial cast posted, which includes Asia Argento (daughter of Dario Argento who worked with him on Dawn of the Dead, and super hottie :naughty: ), Dennis Hopper, John Leguizamo, and Tom Savini (makeup artist extraordinaire, biker in Dawn of the Dead  ).

Even better, the IMDB Trivia says Romero liked Shaun Of The Dead so much that he invited Simon Pegg (writer, played Shaun) and Edgar Wright (writer, director) to appear in his new film, possibly as zombies.

    :bigthumb:

I can't wait. 2005 is going to be a good year for movies. :big grin:

Interview with Greg Nicotero, who assisted Tom Savini with zombie makeup effects on Day of the Dead, and will be the main makeup guy on Land of the Dead:

Dennis Hopper? That guy is pure distilled "Cool" right up there with Christopher Walken, and yes I have forgave him for "Mario Brothers".

Sounds like it'll be a great flick. It's pretty cool they have a Doctor(or near it) doing the gore makeup.

That's a badass semi, doesn't make too much sense to have the tires exposed though...

    Very true.

I wonder if they have some dirt bikes or quads in the back to go exploring/scrounging for gear.

Concerning the tires, they are fighting against the walking dead, not an organized militia or anything. I doubt zombies would do much of anything to the tires.

But I wonder if a flat tire will end up being a plot point?

Personally, I'd use solid rubber tires for that monster.

True, but I imagine inside cities and towns there may be some congestion in the streets. Stalled or crashed cars, barricades from back during the frist couple days of the zombie attacks, etc. I imagine that you would want to cover the sides of the tires if you're going to be plowing through various obstructions.

I also think Romero might expand on his residual-memory zombie concept. The little girl in Night of the Living Dead took a tool off the wall to kill her mother. Bob the Zombie from Day of the Dead knew how to use a phone and a gun. THis might be a problem for the people in Land of the Dead.

I fully expect it to. The official word is that the dead have "evolved" into something more. I'm not sure whether that means smarter, faster, or both. :eek3:

Do you think Romero will go with the new age zombies (the ones that made 28 Days Later and the NEW DotD so infamous)?

I don't think he'll go full-tilt to olympic athlete zombies, but I don't think they'll be just shambling heaps of rotting meat (or "pus-brained bags of shit" as Steel called them in Day of the Dead). I think they'll be a little more agile than before and probably smarter. I'm guessing they'll be more like Bub and maybe a little more coordinated.

    Scary thought.

The living dead have overtaken humanity. The last remnants of the human race live inside a walled city as they come to grips with the situation. The wealthy live in sealed skyscrapers as the poor fend for themselves on the streets. Protecting them is an enormous tank called Dead Reckoning, controlled by a group of people led by Riley. But when Riley loses command of the tank to an insane man bent on destroying the city, he must save it from Dead Reckoning as those who walk beyond the walls of the city slowly develop new abilites and become a much greater threat to humankind.

God, you can see the teethmarks in those pics.

You know something just struck me. There's a lot of barely eaten/chewed on zombies. Don't these zombies know there are other zombies in Ethiopia starving? They should at least finish their meal.

Seriously, I guess I'm not a fan of the barely consumed zombies. I want to see some sated zombies. Guys just sitting back glutted on too much flesh to be bothered with chasing after someone.

    Wow those pics are :coold:

I'd love to see some of those scaryass wall/ceiling climber zombies like in Resident Evil though.

More pictures from the set and some posters, from www.moviesonline.ca. I never thought I'd say this, but God I wish I lived in Toronto. Just for this one year.

Question: If you were to stumble across the screenplay for Land of the Dead, would you read it? Or would you abstain in the name of non-spoilage?

really? I love it. It's exactly what I'd build if that happened for real. Plenty of power to push through crowds of zombies, all steel reinforced to keep them from getting in, lots of room in the trailer for living and storage, machine gun turrets, and rocket launchers. :naughty:
