    i found this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Sony-GPSCS1KA-Digital-Still-Cameras/dp/B000ME1GUW

and for $100 thought it would be really cool to have my photos mapped out on Google Maps/Earth. I travel quite a bit, so thought it would be really neat to look at a map years down the road and see where i've been.

anyone have any recommendations for a unit like this? Anyone used this unit? anyone do anything like this?

I tend to keep my pictures organized in different folders by date/location anyway though so it's not hard to figure out where I took a picture. (i.e. went camping last weekend so the folder is "10/07/07 - Camping at Harrison Lake, Fayette, OH" :dunno: Works for me. Seems like a cool idea if you travel a lot, though.

That's pretty much how my folders are too, except a little more "organized." It's a pain in the butt though :mamoru:

so do i ... i have mine like this:

    P:\2007\04\041507 - Guatemala City - Gabriel's First Birthday Party

I try to make it as specific as possible so it's easy to find.

i just thought it would be really cool to say "yep, this pic came from RIGHT THERE.

or, i could just be a big gigantic nerd. anything is possible.

you basically 'sync' the clocks on your camera, laptop, and camera. it doesn't have to be completely exact, since it's a bit difficult to go 1/2mi away in a few seconds.

really looking forward to trying it out. i'll definitely post results when i do.

thankfully, flickr supports geocodes in the EXIF. just have to figure out the best way to do it.
