I got a site with somewhere around 25 thousand unique hits, close to 4 million page hits. Car forum. Anyway I have no idea where to start with ads or banner sort of thing to be honest. Where are you guys getting your revenue off this ad stuff? Think I would know after all these years but just never really got interested in it

    adsense on forums is shit.

I think I know you. What forum? (PM is cool)

Good luck monetizing it man... You can make a quick buck from forum sponsors, but bleh. I get 100,000+ uniques a day on a car forum.. adsense is worthless. maybe $50/day in rev. I havent pulled reports in months... My wire is <$5000/month though, that's for sure. (This is the only site on that account)

    edit: pwned by typo.

seems like forums suck at making money, I remember a thread a while ago on here by the guy who runs an accord forum(not sure which but I remember it being one of the big ones), anyways he was only making something like $1,500 a month from something like 100K users. And that was everything: adsense, direct sponsorship, affiliate links, premium accounts, tshirts, stickers, the works.

Has to be extremely sophisticated to work. Your standard iframe isn't going to cut it. ;)

I'd be happy with $50/month out of a forum. :o

adsense sorta worked but quickly died off. sponsorship worked up until the enconomy went down the tubes. Server fee was close to the $500 a month mark but eventually found cheaper hardware that got the bill much lower.

tshirt and sticker idea worked but fad wore off.

Start selling something like forum tshirts, put a tip jar too. If you have a lot of computer nerds on the forum PM me, I'd be interested in advertising lol.

    PM sent

yea, you just need to open up like a little forum store that goes with your forum.

Thinking about opening up a record store for mine and the eventually opening up an actual location in town

I also run a rather large car forum and the sell/buy sections is very popular so I started charging around $1 (depends on which one) for each thread they created... I used vbcredits and an addon that won't let them create threads unless they have enough credits..

And this... $3.25 a month on my forum... they get access to the vip/porn forums, larger avatars, more PMs... etc...

pick up a fuckin import tuner (OT member davis is art director for that mag)

or some other rice mag and look through advertisers

then call them and solicit banner space. youd be surprised how easy it is to charge someone $150 for banner space

make a media kit in pdf format

advertisers like to see graphs. show google anal itics that you're legit.

lol, I used to work for a lame company called Gr8ride which was kind of a sister company to Import Tuner (and all the mcmullin argus car mags). We had to build out all the specific magazine websites and man did all the actual magazine staff hate us lol. Was cool though...charging like $70 an hour and got free mags. The good ol' days lol.
