I am wanting to get started on my half-sleve on my 18th birthday, which is only 12 days from now. I know I am wanting to start with a Koi Fish, one of my old pets. Anyways, I dont have an official drawing of it yet, si what I am wondering is:

Do you have to be 18 to go into a shop and have them do a design for you?

Also, can you set up a session before you are 18 for when you are 18?

Most reputable shops will set up a consultation wth the artist of your choice (look through portfolios)... My shop takes a photocopy of your license but only on the day that you get the tattoo, I'm assuming you would be OK if you just went in there and asked to get something drawn up....but it probably depends on the place.

i can't see why they wouldn't give you a consultation and start drawing since they know that sleeves = big money. I suspect you'll be fine

It's not a crime to look. You'll be fine. I went into my first tattoo shop when I was 17 and started figuring out which artist I wanted to do the work and what I wanted to have done. I was in the chair the day after my birthday.

Depends on the artist...if they are amazing it takes them an hour, otherwise a week or a few days at leats...also depends on how busy they are and how much shit they have going on- summer is usually busier than winter time.
