Stock price is below $5/share, an almost 60 year low. Imagine the ramifications of the very possible idea! Especially if it's from a Chinese company. :noes:

No country has been spared from the financial crisis, meaning that no one has the money for that kind of risk outside of the world's billionaires (the richer ones) or a foreign government. Plus, it's a terrible business that has a shitty outlook; anyone that bought would be doing it strictly as a speculation.

i don't think any foreign company wants to touch GM's current CBA with the UAW.

Better to let it go bankrupt, buy the hard assets, and tell the UAW workers making $65/hr. + benefits that Burger King is still hiring.

No one is buying GM before they declare bankruptcy.

A foreign entity would probably be interested after a bankruptcy...why would you buy it now when it's losing money with no end in sight short of bankruptcy?

Once it's bankrupt and a court tells the UAW to go fuck itself, someone will buy it cheap and start production without union labor.

But we all know Obama will get elected, GM will get bailed out, the UAW will continue fucking the companies asshole, and GM will continue to crank out shitty cars until the end of time.

Probably. There is no conservative candidate this year.

No foreign company is that stupid.

Purchasing GM would be purchasing massive, massive liabilities. The union, the thousands of dealers, numerous old plants...

The government on the other hand...

Does Kirk Kerkorian still own a big stake? He's the one I'd expect a takeover bid from.

Someone may buy them at a low price with the intention of getting them out of from under the UAW, just to resell them later without the UAW attached.

That would be a corporate raid for the history books.

I just checked his wiki...apparently he sold most of his stake in GM last year and made a $4.58 billion bid for Daimler Chrysler.
