This is recreating a military test in which six AAC silencers survived. In this test, the Gemtech G5 failed after 240 rounds by the mount ... all » unscrewing. We repaired that, and continued. At around 750 rounds a critical roll pin in a high-pressure area failed. The silencer guts came out easily, and were not welded as Gemtech said. The spring was cooked and had little tension left. The Titanium fractured. Best to not use springs, roll pins, or Titanium inside a silencer body. Full penetration welding combined with only high temperature rated metals (Little known fact: Ti is a lower-temp metal) is the way to go.

    :)

    fixed. :)

I put "silencer" because that was the title of the video on silencertalk made by Robert Silvers. Also in the eyes of the ATF, its silencers.

Just because the govt uses the term silencer, doesnt mean it sounds less retarded.

A friend who's a Captain in the Army said there were a lot of failures with G5's over in Iraq when he was there. Same thing, they were unscrewing and some of the inside welds were breaking.

The guy in the video seems like he had some trouble handling the rifle.

The baffle core is welded together I think, and that's he said was being a problem also.

That's cool, I thought I had heard they were welded, but guess not. I'll have to ask my friend what was going wrong with them, maybe it was the roll pin breaking holding them together also.

I find that quote completely on target and in line with what I have heard.

I want to give AAC a shot but this is kinda dumb.

This test kinda sucks, and the guy shooting is an idiot, slowest reloads ever, and he's swinging the muzzle all over the place

you're right, all of that should really degrade the welds in the suppressor

military style test would be 120 RDs rapidly fired through the weapon, because that is more like a fire fight, (you know basic combat load and all that jazz) not 750 RDs almost non stop for 30 minutes. its a rifle not a machine gun.

test method doesn't really affect the durability or construction of the suppressor, is my point

gemtech sackriders are focusing on that too much
