they are pretty much about the same overall performance but the 9800 is smaller and cheaper by 1 PCI slot and $100

The Ati has all the performance of the NVidia, plus it doesn't take up that extra PCI slot.

One downfall of the ATI cards is the the fact that it doesn't come bundled with all the goodies like Geforce cards always do

    :slap:

I would take the 9800 for sure, it outperforms the 5900 in almost every benchmark and the image quality is WAY WAY superior to the nVIdia cards.

HL2 & doom III will be able to take advantage of the cards potential. They are commin out pretty soon :) So you should just wait till they come out...by then they'll be even cheaper

post up the benchmarks then. THe only game the 5900 won was DOom III which isn't even out yet and is specifically designed for the 5900. Of course it's going to win in that game. 9800 won in ut2k3...a game that IS OUT and was designed for a 5900.

    taken directly from OCaddiction.com

So the 5900 ultra takes 3 and the 9800pro takes 7.

I'de like the add that the only time the 5900 ultra beat it on UT2k3 was when they bumped it up to 1600x resolution, and the last test both cards were OC'd. 9800pro actually beat it w/ the typical 1240xwhatever setting :)

and eventhough I don't like to contradict myself...
    SYNTHECTIC BENCHMARKS ARE USELESS!!!!

Haven't we learned anything from this whole Nvidia/ATI/Future mark driver thing?

Have you taken a look at the IQ of both cards with settings turned all the way up? ATI's new cards 0wn Nvidia. Nvidia's new drivers STILL don't give you control of trilinear filtering, proving that they still havn't learned that the enthusiest market wants control over ALL thier settings. Nvidia used to 0wn all, then they messed up and tried to go .13 micron too early and released a poor product. They are paying for it now.

The only people who don't agree that the 9800 pro 0wns the 5900 ultra are Nvidia fanboys. I could care less who makes the card, I jus want the best, and right now, it's ATI.
