i found a red liquid puddle under car (which i think is transmission fluid). i turned on the car and i shift into reverse and the car doesnt move in reverse. it stays still like its in neutral. am i going to have to jack the stang up and switch parts, or will this be a tow+mechanic thing? (new edge v6 mustang)

i dont know if i bottomed out and scratched the pan or if this has to do with the tsb for it:

    00-9-1
LEAK - TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKS AT RADIATOR - VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER IN RADIATOR END TANK

  2. Why don't you actually get under there and look? It would sure beat speculating about it on the internet.

In the mean time a simple solution would be to sell the mustang and get a real car.

Low fluid level?! If it's too low it won't move . . .

Well is the leak under the radiator or under the car where the trans is? That will answer real fast if it has anything to do with that TSB. Second of all, a trans wont simply stop working overnight... (unless it leaked all of the fluid out) You also didnt state whether it was an auto or 5spd...but I am assuming auto because of the TSB you mentioned. If so, it would have to leak out a couple quarts before it wouldnt work. And you didnt make it sound like it was a huge puddle. We need more detail..

under the car where tranny is, because the puddle is big right next to where the exhaust manifold turns

so yea, tsb has nothing to do with it

well, i didnt drive my car for a month (though i did turn it on every day pretty much)

i drove it for about 1.5 hours, then parked it. car worked fine. i go next day to drive it and see the puddle. i think i bottomed the car out on a hill because tallahassee has so many steep entrances to shopping plazas, etc.

so yea it all leaked after i parked overnight

Is the puddle huge? Or just a wet spot. Do you have any other gears? Bottoming out and hitting the tranny is never good. Crawl under there with a light and see if the pan is dented...You could have smushed the valve body or something. Cant really help much behind a computer screen :dunno:

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Jesus Christ you're a fucking idiot.

You don't know where your OWN cars jack-points are, but you know a V6 stang can run 12's.

    Fantastic.

ok its been fixed, and costly too

the radiator clogged and that caused the tranny to overheat and unseal

i needed new radiator, and resealing of tranny
