I'm Christian and gay. I don't believe the New Testament condemns homosexuality, but then again I haven't visited my bible since I've been "out". Probably should bust that back out, or at least get a little more involved.

I do not and never did, despite I used to go to church since I was a little kid.

  5. My mom made me go to church when I was younger but then I quit going once I got older. Never really liked it and don't really believe in it. Meh.

How do you feel being surrounded by people who condemn your lifestyle? My father, step mother and step sister are all born again and it's drives me crazy the way they talk about "gays."

"Oh I love gays, but I don't agree with their lifesyle." :greddy:

First I ask them why they don't agree with the lifestyle. Then, I convict them of their own sinful lifestyles filled with greed, lying, cheating, lusting, etc.

Then we move on to why gay marriage should be supported by Christians.

Lastly, we conclude that homosexuality is not a sin by visiting and understanding the big 4 homo-nono parts of teh Bible.

Try convincing someone who doesn't have an emotional attachment to you.

I love how the bible thumpers seem to totally avoid addressing premarital sex these days, even though the bible has far more against it than homosexuality.

emotional attachment shouldn't matter - i'm not out to her yet

    BUT
Anyone who is willing to listen wouldn't be a problem - it's those people who make the bible cater to their beliefs - they rarely come around

I used to be really religious when I was a little younger. I then took a look at what I really believed and I think that there is a god out there, but Im not going to analyze what it is; whether or not the universe is "god" as in how the book the secret explains it, or if there is some other power.

I don't really believe in joining an organized religion such as catholicism, protestant or anything like that because they are all hypocrites, closed minded, and think their way is the only right way. Also, people in my church were more concerned with money the god. It became a social event for them, who had the best clothes? I was ridiculed when I wore dockers and a dress shirt to church one sunday. That basically made me realize these people were there for image and not to worship "god", which then made me take a look at what I really do believe in. My church also sports a gold roof, with a gothic architecture and they have the audacity to ask for donations....I told my mom I will never donate to the church for that reason. They claim to want to help starving children and the world when they waste money on a gold roof...My mom's excuse is that "it's the house of god" well, I think if god does exist, he woudn't care if you worship under a gold roof or under a canopy. What we are taught to believe is he cares about the person inside you, not what you wear, where you worship....

So in short, my religious view is that it is between me and god, I don't need someone aka priest, to be the middle man for me.

    sounds good natty

I was on a job in a Methodist church the other day and saw all these "Homosexuality and the Bible" pamphlets everywhere - found out it was a reconciling congregation. They had free counseling resources (the acceptance kind) for LGBT and parents/friends, gay pride parades sponsored by the church, and a general ambience of acceptance and love for everyone. Very cool. :bigthumb:

Yes, of course there are gay christians. Just like there are female christians, and black christians, and straight christians. Religion doesn't have the power to change biology.

ill ignore the biology jip but sure..i'll bite.

Religion may not have the power to change a person, but it definitely has the power to influence and thats all one needs to change themselves... or attempt to.

The whole "exgay" thing comes to mind. I think that's more of an attempt than an actual change. It's simply not possible for a gay guy to say "okay, I'm going to stop being gay, 'cause God will help me", and within the next weeks they want some pussy. Same would, of course, apply to lesbians. Change the pussy for a dick.

I'm a gay christian. I don't believe gay's should get married. I believe that they should have their own thing..like if a Christian church will marry them (i.e.-the ceremony). HOWEVER, I don't feel the government can tell two people they can't get the same benefits as two other heterosexual people that live together. That's wrong.

I believe everyone should get a civil union, and leave it up to the church to "marry" people.. because separation of church and state should still exist?

There is no such thing as biblical marriage in today's society. We did away with it when we allowed annulments and divorce on grounds of "irreconcilable differences." There is no reason why gays can't get married like straight couples today.
