So, myself and the senior most NCO (and the one that looks out for me and leads me in the right direction each day) in my element decided it would be a good idea to heed the call for volunteers for gate gaurd duty for the morning rush.

This should be fun :hs: 0545-0900

So you get to go home and sleep for the rest of the day, right?

I volunteered. Personally, I keep a mentality that I won't ask my guys to do anything I wouldn't do.

two or three weeks ago I volunteered for a fundraiser at the baseball stadium - working a concession stand all day.

There were actually a lot of LT's out there this morning, all volunteers from my Squadron. Of about 16 volunteeres there were probably 5 -6 Lt's. The base commander was out there most of the time doing the same thing :coolugh:. Evidently he does it almost every day.

I did put in a 11 hour work day today. I came home from PT then showered and took a nap :hs:

i "volunteered" to work the beer tent at the base airshow last year, and by that i mean i was told on friday afternoon that i was to show up at 0600 saturday morning to sell beer for four hours.

    two things

    1) it sucks ass selling beer when you're hungover and working off 2 hours of sleep, and the jets are much louder

    2) yes, people do buy beer at 0600 on saturday mornings at airshows

i'd probably do the same thing :hs:

in fact, when i was in pensacola, we would have a yearly "beach airshow". the last year i was there i passed out on the beach and woke up in someone's tent. i tried to apologize to the guy (his whole family was in the tent, i guess i just chose to pass out there when i was drunk), but he smiled and handed me a beer.

    fantastic airshow
