When I was younger I used to get gas pains a lot after eating. When I got serious with working out and dieting a few years ago it got a lot better. I figured it was mostly due to (1) eating a lot less carbs, (2) fiber in my diet, and (3) eating smaller portions.... The problem nearly went away within a few weeks.

Lately though i've noticed that whenever I eat on a really empty stomach I end up with gas pains about an hour after my meal. It pissed me off because like right now for instance I should be leaving for the gym but I know that there is no point because I can't do anything with these damn stomach pains... Not to mention they make me bloated.

So I have to sit around and wait until I can burp or fart a lot and get rid of it. Doesn't happen everyday, but probably once or twice a week and I can't pin point exactly what it could be.

    Anyone else experience this?

BTW, I do have mild lactose intollerance but I have not been able identify the problem as only occuring after eating food high in dairy.

Too much protein? I get it too sometimes and it drives me crazy, especially on leg day.

    I don't think it's the protein. I only take in ~ 200-230g a day.

    Like last night for instance:

I at class and SUPER hungry so I ate right when I got out. A couple hours later I was really hungry again so I went home and made 6 egg whites, 2 whole eggs, 4 slices deli ham, cheese stick, apple with peanut butter. I pretty healthy meal and pretty low in carbs... I felt great.

Hour later I started getting the gas pains (which is when I posted this thread) and it killed for about a 45min at which point I was finally able to burp and fart and take a shit. Then I felt fine and went to the gym.

Is this just what happens when you eat on an empty stomach (when you're really hungry)? My meal wasn't high carbs, wasn't a huge meal, and was quite healthy/natural.

Take a simethicone with your meals. It acts in the stomach to break the bubbles around the gas/foam that builds up in your stomach, so you burp the gas up instead of letting it make its way through your intestines.

    It works fairly well.

Also try eating smaller meals or eat slower.

Def. going to try and eat slower. I have heard that you tend to ingest more air when eating quickly, often resulting in gas.
