i'm not a gamer yet......but i'm thinking about getting a game or two for my computer. First of all though....i wanna build a new computer and use mine as a gaming puter. I have a:

Gigabyte K8 Triton (sis 760 chipset)
    AMD 3000+
    1 gig of ram
    and a shitty video card

if i bought a good video card.....do you think puter would work?

My old computer had the same motherboard/CPU, i had 1g ram with a 6800GT, was an awesome tight budget gaming machine.

If all you do is play a little games i don't think its tooo bad.

Your not going to get crazy fps but games should be playable.

As for a graphics solution. Don't go to high up or else you'll start to bottleneck the card and waste money. Probably a 6600GT would do you just fine until you decide that you have shitty gear. :p

I used to play games and ran cs:source alright with my P4 1.8Ghz\9600\512mb :O
    BF2 ran-ish.

BTW: you wouldn't happen to have the barton with unlocked multipliers would you?

i think i'm ordering that motherboard ^ with a new antec case but i have one question:

last time i took my cpu out i had problems with the thermal paste where i couldn't get the heat sink unstuck from the cpu and ended up bending pins that i amazinly bent back in place. Is there any tricks to doing this

Humm.... I forgot if heat makes it more sticky or less but, i suppose you can let your computer run and see if it will pull off easier.
