Ok so far I have it set as this,

    2.5Ghz Quad-Core G5
    2GB 533 DDR2 ECC SDRAM, 2x1GB
500GB Serial ATA 7200 RPM HD
    Nvidia Geforce 7800GT 256MB SDRAM
    + APP

I am using this for video and music production with minor 3d rendering. A graphic workstation basically. Programs that I will be pushing are... Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools, Reason 3.0, Photoshop, Illustrator, Macromedia Studio, After Effects, Premiere. My key reasoning is I need something stable as fuck and can handle rendering video pretty well.

    1. How does ECC ram effect Apples? 200 Dollar difference so just making sure its worth it.

    2. Any place to order the Apple monitors for cheaper? Also are they good I haven't used an apple for over a year or so.

    3. Am I making the right choice for what I need a computer for?

The 30 inch Apple Monitor cannot be beat... you can find better monitors for the other sizes though.

Actually that used to be the case until Apple updated their 30 inch display to match dell.

I wouldn't buy a G5 right now. The intel powermacs should be out within the next couple of months and should be way faster.

that will be done in less than a year. Plus, the Core 2 Duos will wipe the floor with the G5's.
