good call since apple had said publicly a short while back how not to expect anything earlier than roughly the end of the year

it will probably be at least 8 months before a powerbook g5 comes around. its a lot of work to get processors liek that into a laptop. maybe they will make a dual processor laptop? probably not but that'd be cool.

well i honestly didnt plan on getting it.. ive always been interested in OSX since im a Unix dork..

Basicly my Sony Vaio quit working on me after only 8 months of use... and sony will not fix it.. so i broke down and spent the money on the powerbook.

but yeah.. I wasent even remotely productive at the meat :hs:

ouch... sounds like you didn't register the machine with Sony... god they're so :greddy:

for those of you that don't know, Sony will only warrant hardware for 90 DAYS unless you register the product with them within that time, only then are you eligible for 1 year coverage.

Either that or you did something stupid that voided your warranty :wavey:

actually i was under the impression that I did register.. but sony said I didnt.. and I didnt have anything to prove it.. so i was fucked.
Ill never buy a laptop from them again.. i had far too many problems..

so far.. the only thing i dislike about the powerbook is the 1 button mouse thing.. (which is more of an apple issue then related to the laptop).

Any USB mouse with work with out drivers. Im using a 5 button mouse with scroll wheel here.
Tho to get the extra features out of the other 3 buttons like assigned short cuts or what ever will require the third party software. May i suggest this little mouse...

what kind of CD, audio or data? Audio can be done through iTunes (mp3 or Audio), just create a playlist and click burn in the upper right hand corner.

For Data CDs, just put in a blank, it'll prompt you to display it in the Finder; from there just drag files and folders onto it. However, at some point you'll probably want to get a copy of Roxio Toast Titanium for more complicated burns / CD replication.

Best thing to do in terms of burning CDs is obtain Toast some how. i hate apple's built in CD writing facility it doesnt burn100% of the CD.
