G4 what type HDD?

    ok i have a G4 powerbook, in the system profile it says ata hdd but the people at frys sold me a pata hdd?? what is the correct type??

    Ultra ata 133 is the best that will work internally. Get something with a big buffer and fast rpm so 5400rpm or higher and say a 16 mb cache for best performance.

    pata = ata = parallel ata

    as opposed to

    sata = serial ata

    This is ATA and will work fine. Yeah, pata is a newer IO interconnect and so is sata. They run at faster speeds, but are only supported internally by newer machines that have these IOs built in.

    PATA is not new, it's the retroactively named plain old ATA after SATA came out.
