Taken with my 300D, kit lens, and 420ex flash. Exposures were 15" long.

No gels here but I'm happy I can now take pictures of my dog inside without having to worry about the normal flash blowing out her face.

I like the first pic the best. Good composition and the blue light adds visual interest. The dog pic is a nice snapshot, but that's about it.

Jcolman, yeah it's more of a snapshot...I was just playing with bouncing the flash off the ceiling. My dog was the closest subject without my having to get out of my chair lol. Imma lazy bastard :)

Coppi...if you've ever been to a concert or something along those lines, the lights have a colored transparency type material that when you have it over your flash or a flashlight it will change the light color from white/amber to whatever color gel you have over it.

It's a plastic like material that you put in front of a light. It won't burn or melt easily if it gets too close to a hot film or video light. It's sole purpose is to change the color of your lights. You can get "gels" in all sorts of colors. We use it all the time in video production. I've got dozens of rolls of the stuff. Most of the time, we use for color correction but we also have rolls of what we call "party" gels that are simply used to change the color of the lights.
