I had a scare the summer where I was doing a lunge (i know i know...shut up) and felt a pull on the right side of my dongular area. Anyway, I went the doctor that week, he said he didn't feel a hernia and that it was probably a pulled oblique muscle. He said that there was a possibility that it was a small hernia though and that the only other way to find out for sure was surgery.

So I took it easy, quit lifting, started swimming every other day for recovery. Recently it got too cold to swim in the morning before I go to class. So now I'm starting to feel the effects of not getting regular exercise. Does anyone have any experience with torn abdominal muscles/hernia scares? I REALLY don't want to make a possible hernia worse. Any tips?

Cliffs: I may have a hernia, but more than likely it is a torn muscle. Any tips on what to do to get back in to a lifting plan?
