I say "cheaper" because it's not a $300+ helmet. Its pretty comfortable, I like the guard that goes over the nose. It helps keep your breath from fogging the shield.

the gmax is a good helmet, the gmax68 will be my next helmet. web bike world had it as there helmet of the year

    http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/gmax/gm68s/

I will probably order it from motorcycle superstore ....no tax, & free shipping, but i just cant decide a color scheme yet. Im thinking the crusader red, but not a big fan of the crosses on it , MS has a 138 customer reviews on it as well :)

$150 is cheap for a helmet, that's one gear you don't wanna go cheap on.

I can't really bash "cheap" helmets.
I had a Vega helmet on when I went off a cliff this past saturday, and my mug is fine, and my head smashed against a lot of stuff on the way down.

You do know that any helmet should be tight enough that it'll give you a headache when new, right?

And as far as safety goes... BOTH of my helmets cost <$60, brand new. Both are also DOT and SNELL approved. I don't think price has much to do with safety.

i get the tight part, but like i can't even get a 2x over my head. i would rip my ears off in the process

Most will be fairly safe, and the 'safest' will depend on how fast and what other conditions your going to crash under.

So if you can tell us under what conditions you plan to fall off your bike (eg. on the freeway, on the streets) and what you might strike (A tree? A car? or just the pavement)

We can recommend the best helmet for you that way.
However, since you probably can't predict those conditions. Pick a helmet thats comfortable, vents well, and is not very heavy.

If you plan on riding a lot, helmets get heavy. Weight is important

If you can find a shop that carries KBC helmets, try them on. I have the same problem and found the KBC FFR modular. love it.

well i ended up buying the crusader one. i read so many good things.

i can't try one on locally since no one cares 3xl. if it doesn't fit i'll return it. no hassle.
