Was watching one of my favorite shows, SG-A, and this latest episode had a good amount of full auto P90 fire.

    It got me thinking:

Where do they get these from? Are there companys out there that rent FA guns for movie/TV use?

    /Random question of the day.

So what you're telling me is that the ATF isn't gonna let me buy some FA guns with the 'intentions' of renting them as props? LOL. Damn. There goes that loophole.

You dont need that as an excuse to buy FA weapons. All you have to do is live in a state that will allow them, go through the proper channels, pay the taxes and have a deep wallet to pay the for the cost of FA weapons.

Yea, I know. But Pre-'86 weapons are a fortune, and, they're 22 years old. I'm more of a modern weapons kind of person. Also, I'd normally prefer semi > auto, but god damn a FA P90 would be hot. That's all I really want. Is that asking too much? :x:

IM betting a lot of movie rental comapnies get their post samples the same way every other dealer does.

However, there is an amendment or new bill before congress that would allow major movie companies and companies like Blackwater to be allowed to purchase and have post samples for their business operation.

A lot of movies companies will be going to Blank only guns. They're cheaper by far.

For revenue generation. I believe it's a felony if you use it for collection purposes...which is what I'd want. Basically, no p90 for me. SBR'd PS90....someday.

Can anyone explain the reasoning why post-1986 are such a no-no?? I mean if the AWB didn't work out, and only 1 crime has been recorded with a NFA item (was commited by off-duty LEO, iirc) then what's the harm in allowing people to own NFA items regardless of age?

Because machine guns are scary and should only be at the disposal of M&P.

Yea, really. Is an MP5 made in '87, any more deadly than one made in '85?

Gun laws aren't based on effectiveness or logic. The post 86 ban effectively makes it impossible for the average wage earner to afford a fully automatic weapon, that is the goal.

Now think of that $200 tax stamp you need for NFA items. We bitch about it today but think of what that $200 tax meant when it was passed in 1934. It was about 6 months of the average per capita income for a person at the time. Talk about pricing guns out of the hands of citizens. Were the NFA to be updated to match inflation and income levels, the tax stamp would cost over $18,000 today.

so sad. I mean making something unobtainable for the average person should be considered an effective "ban" which is unconstitutional :wtc:

What's Canada's take on FA guns? I thought they were more strict than us?

And yea, the gun fire obviously doesn't seem to be as loud. I just figured they were using blanks and then drowning out the sound to make it bearable. But, after reading the link to the gun rental place, I'm now likely to say they use propane guns. Which I never knew existed until this thread.

Propane guns are just the gas airsoft guns. I'm pretty sure the 'green gas' is just propane.

"green gas" is HFC-22. Basically refrigerant used in commercial air conditioners.
