    the super drive on my mac mini has decided it wont recognize blank discs.

    is there something i should know before i order a replacement?

    its like 2 years old man.

    can read burned / real dvd's, read and write cd's but cannot read blank dvds

    i imagine you tried a different brand of blank dvds to confirm?

    if you have applecare, your covered. if not, get yourself an external drive - its cheaper

    thats the thing, ive burned tons of dvds on these LG -Rs but maybe i should try some +R

    I lately have a similar problem with the one that came with my Mac Pro, but I think it's just with dual layer discs. I get some weird error like "laser can't be calibrated for media" or something like that when I try to burn one. Luckly I have another external burner.
