So while doing Pur's leg day today, with 1 minute rest between my series, I decided to take my heartrate after doing my walking lunges. It was 188, which is quite high, and my friend + the trainer working there told me it's unhealthy for it to be so high, etc. So I told them to do my leg workout and THEN to come tell me I'm out of shape. :ugh: Wow, and now my friend is on MSN and he brought it back up, saying how the trainer told him it's very bad after I left, etc... :ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh:

you need to have a prolonged heart rate of over 180 to even remotely hit a tachycardic state that would cause damage/endanger you

im talking like massive hyperventilation for a few minutes at a time...nothing you could achieve while lifting..

I know, but it's annoying that these guys think it means I'm out of shape if I work my ass off on every sets/series. I tried to explain to my friend doing walking lunges is a short but intense activity, just like the world's best sprinter must have one hell of a heartrate when he's done running. Intensity =/= being in shape or not.

Yeah, but I'm not even training 10% as intense or as often as they do.
