no offense to mitchtj, but i saw a kid in the gym yesterday that just made me laugh out loud.. i am by no means the biggest guy in the gym... we have one dude named sam who is a big time bodybuilder, 99% sure he is on.

anyway, this dude who looks like mitchtj (couldnt have weighed more than 120 soaking wet) walks into the gym CARRYING a tub of "Muscletech NaNo Vapor" and an empty water bottle. im doing dips and this kid garners my interest, i walk by and look at the bottle and chuckle a bit to myself when i see the muscletech logo.

kid walks off for a bit (i assume to fill his water bottle) returns with a sheet of paper and a half full water bottle.. he makes a little makeshift funnel out of the paper and ATTEMPTS to pour in his muscletech product.. i say attempts because the shit spilled all over the floor and he just tried to spread it around (white powder on a black floor doesnt spread well) anyway he then shook his bottle around and walked over to the bicep curl machine... where he stayed for a solid 30 minutes untill he left

Haha that reminds me of this one kid who looks like napoleon dynamite and just comes in to curl every other day. He uses the squat rack for the curls, swings and uses his lower back, and wears gloves. I tried giving him some advice, and he ended up listening to me nad doing it properly for the rest of the day. Then I saw him in there a week later and he was doing the same old same old all over again.

We had some poor kid using the preacher platform. The kid was like 140 lbs soaking wet and curlin the bar ( 2.5 on each side). This monster at our gym asked to work in. This guy is one of the nicest guys around, always willing to talk or help out anyone. But, I shit you not this guy is hugggeee compared to me. He puts 45 on each side of the ez curl bar, and knocks out his set. Great form, full range of motion 8 reps, He did 4 sets at that weight. Even I was like  :noes: , then he asked me if I knew anything about cee or any supplments. All hes on is a multi vit , and whey

When I was lifting at an apartment gym we had a few characters.

The first was a 5 foot nothing mexican dude. Cool guy, and lifted as hard as he could. I'd always say hey to him, but his english sucked, and my spanish sucked more, so there wasn't a whole lot of talking back and forth. I caught him doing dips in a smith machine, and motioned at his legs. He shook his head, and made sure to tell me it was back day.

The other guy that really blew me away was a guy in his late 30s, that was actually in decent shape. He'd come in and do the most dangerous, off the wall shit I'd ever seen. He'd do stepups, onto a square bar that was about 2 inches across, blindfolded, with like 30s in his hands, and ask me for a spot. How in the shit am I supossed to catch you if you fall doing this crazy shit man? Another one of his great workout ideas was to carry all the weights out of the gym, one by one, and then bring them back in. He'd do all kinds of shit blindfolded.

at my old gym we had a trainer there who always had his clients doing the stupidest stuff. just crazy off the wall stuff, he'd had this huge basket just full of miscellaneous items that he'd use. like he had this big square foam block that he'd put on the ground and have his client lie on it and start swimming in place in the middle of the gym floor... and just weird stuff like that, he had TONS of clients though that would do everything he told them, all women of course. and some gay guys.

this guy was in pretty average shape too. most of the trainers at golds gym look worse than the average gym rat.

Today the only person other than me at the gym today put a mini trampoline in front of himself, and started throwing a 10lb medicine ball at it, trying to catch it whenever it would bounce off. The first time he tried catchine it the ball almost knocked him over.

I see lots of guys doing squats in the smith machine? There's nothing too wrong with it is there?

No offence taken 86, im up to 160 pounds now and proud of it. I dont get the 'soaking wet' bit tho.

soaking wet = added weight from water

smith machine isn't a natural bar motion for squatting I don't think.
