i cant believe i have to call applecare to make an appointment at the dumbass bar to let them know that my mbp screen has a huge amount of discolored pixels.

At least they are replacing my screen with a new one, hopefully it would be one of the new led backlit ones. Anyone know the part number on the led backlit screens :x:

Why not take your computer to a non-Apple Store to get service? There must be at least one in your area that can do repairs on Macs.

Um, no. Read your contract sometime.

As long as they're an Apple Authorized Service Provider, it's fully honored by AppleCare. The Macs that break down at my job that are also covered by AppleCare are taken to an independent AASP all the time.

they tried to say the discolored pixels were the result of a "burn in effect", and they said it wasnt covered by applecare fucking bullshit. I use plug it into a monitor everytime i use it at home. and when its not at home, i doubt the battery life would last long enough to "burn" the screen.

Why would you use a word that no one understands?

You can also walk into any Apple Store and put your name in the Genius Bar que at any of the Apple computers on demo. That's part of what that Concierge program does that's on the center of every screen @ the desktop.

wow just wow, so the parts for my mbp repair came into today. The geniuses called me and told me to make an appointment so I can drop off my laptop. I was in the area already, with my laptop, so i figured id just drop by and drop off my laptop. I get to the store and told them I just needed to drop off my laptop for repairs. They told me i still needed an appointment to drop off my laptop, because there is "stuff" they need to do. So I reserve the next available appointment which is 2 hours later. 2 hours pass by and I hand them my laptop without signing anything or going through redtape. The guy even said "that was easy". I'm like motherfucker, you bitches told me to make an appointment, then make me wait 2 hours for you to fucking say "that was easy".

cliffs: had to make an appointment and wait 2 hours to drop off my laptop for repairs, when it could have taken less than 5 minutes

wow, thats lame. 2 hours to drop something off? i could understand if you dropped it off and they were fixing it on the spot and you had to wait. they probably just put it on a shelf after you left

when my macbook wasn't ejecting cds correctly i just walked up to the counter and told them the problem. they still made an appointment, i guess to document it...but i didn't have to wait at all. there was only one worker and one other person at the bar (he had a macbook and was convinced that his hard drive was making odd noises, it was amusing to watch him)
basically they took a screwdriver wrapped in electrical tape and pryed the opening a little bit, worked great
