Through an odd combination of work, class, and practice, I will only be able to see my girlfriend for two hours on Valentine's day.

Rather than try to squeeze in our celebrating between practice and work (valuable shower and relaxation time), we just celebrated early. A few months ago, we decided to shift our anniversary over six months because we were sick of winter anniversaries.

So here is the question: have any of you guys just figured you'd rather celebrate when you damn well please? Way more convenient and pleasant.

You're a lucky smart man. With a good woman. Hang on to her.

What other woman is sensible enough to actually agree to something like that? None.

absolutely. i often celebrate holidays at different times than their scheduled day. my family does it all the time.

this year my bf and i are waiting til there's something fun to do (like a show or something) and count that as celebrating v-day.

I did Christmas with my family in January this year because I was out of town on Christmas weekend visiting friends :dunno:
Other than that (and thanksgiving my favorite holiday :bigthumb: ) I don't really celebrate a lot of holidays i've never really done anything for adversaries or valentines day (aka make more money than anyone ever should at work day)

Me and my bf celebrated early...last night actually. We have that work/school problem on weekdays so we decided to do it early.:wiggle:

I'm used to doing that. My ex and I worked weekends, holidays, and always on v-day (we were in the floral business), so times such as Christmas and birthdays never got celebrated on the right days. And during thanksgiving, it was impossible to spend time with 3 different families on the same day.

yeah, we almost always celebrate things on another day too, seeing as we live in different states and both have a ton of stuff going on...our valentine's day is Friday, and I'm SO excited...although I think that may be because its the first time i've seen him in a few weeks. Basically it just serves as an excuse to spoil each other with remembering why we love each other, it really doesnt have to be on that day. Kudos to you guys for being smart!

edit: so what did you guys do?

We're doing V-Day tonight instead of tomorrow. Makes it a LOT easier to enjoy yourselves when you go out for a night on the town, and you dont have an overpriced 2-item menu "full" of crappy items to choose from.

My fiancee thinks im nuts, but shes willing to go with it if it makes me happier.

Didn't do anything special, just the usual Valentine's day shit. But the restaurant wasn't crowded (having a hibachi to yourself is pretty cool).

I think I'm getting hooked on this, though. I'm going to start moving holidays around more.

    Most holidays are:

    A) Silly
    B) On an arbitrary day
    C) All of the above

I'm not going to shed too many tears about shifting somebody else's arbitrary choices around to better fit my schedule.

What about when you celebrate arbitrary "holidays" on the wrong day? :mamoru:

My g/f and I are both pretty busy on V-day with school, homework and work. She's got night class until 8pm and I have class early the next morning on Friday. We'll be lucky to hang out for an hour or so. We're celebrating on Friday instead :)
