I'm looking for a decent road bike that dosent cost a million baffilion dollars. Preferably composite frame, but aluminum will do. I'm not doing the tour de france anytime soon, I just need one that would work well for some recreational riding and cardio. Whats the word a bike what should I roll with?

check craigslist for a used Trek or Specialized. Depending on your price range you can pick up something pretty nice. Check your local bike store, if they are like mine they have tons of decent used bikes for real cheap.

do you know what size bike you need?

First thing you must do is figure out your size.
I prefer steel to aluminum since aluminum leads to a not so fun ride on the streets/roads..

I picked up a very nice late 80s/early 90s Miyata w/ titanium tubings + aluminum lugs for a little over $300.

IMO that bike is shit...but if you're just doing it for regular riding and cardio and don't care about performance, I guess it will work (in which case you can do a lot better by getting an older road bike IMO..)

yeah its a shit bike compared to most road bikes. I haven't had a chance to throw $2k into a road bike just yet. But it gets the job done. Its taken my ass the same place and any other bike would.

Right exactly, it gets the job done. I think I'd much rather spend a little bit more and get better parts tho

Normally i'd agree but it also depends on what hes using it for. Since hes just casually riding he isn't going to be as concerned with power and efficiency.

He's saying a decent road bike though..that Schwinn sucks.

Like I said, I got a really nice road bike for a little over $300 that is far superior to that Schwinn, and it rides nice-nice.

I have a Giant OCR 3 that I really like. Got it for graduation a few years ago. Rode 10 miles this morning before going to work. IIRC it was around $500, but my buddy worked at the shop so I might have gotten a discount.
