7900GT is under warrenty but it will take at least 2 weeks if not more to get another one. the fan on my MSI 6600GT siezed up so now that one is fucked as well, leaving me with nothing to replace my 7900GT with. The 7900GT still works but is causing my system to randomly restart especially if I try to play a game. I tried looking for a cooler for my MSI 6600GT but I can't find anything that is sure to fit on it. The one I have looks like this...

Sorry for the large image size. :(

Anyone know a cooler that would fit on it for sure? Of if not anyone have a link to a sub $100 card that would perform halfway decent? It has to be PCI-e and the only thing I can find right now is a $70 8500GT that has gotten horrible reviews.

What do you have near you?

Microcenter carries a bunch of coolers in stock.

Just take the cooler off, remove the fan from the heatsink, and oil the fan.

    Problem solved: $0.

I guess ill pick one of these up. They seem alright and I'll mainly be using it for cs:s. Plus it is pretty cheap for what you get. What do you all think?

Take your case door off and put a fan next to it. Buddy of mine did that for awhile.

    I got a 7300LE instead for 30$ :greddy:

As long as it plays CS:S OK I dont care.

On a side note though since I went cheaper with the card I put the leftover funds into a side window for my CM Stacker case and 4 blue LED fans. 2 120mm and 2 80mm. At least my computer with a shitty GPU will look cool.

Did you see smoke, or does the fan just not spin?

If it were me, I'd take it apart for fun.

Nah, circuit boards are (supposed to be) thermoset plastic, so it takes more energy to burn them than they release.

I think I'd rather use wire ties.

Ill post pics. A 6600GT with a 80mm case fan wire tied to is is bound to look funny.
