AAARRRRGGGGHHHH! Just need to blow of steam.

So about two weeks ago I purchased a Sig 226 with truglo front sights from an internet dealer. Have it sent to a local FFL transfer dealer.

Last week I go in to start the DROS. Due to stupid california law, it'll be 10 days before I can pick it up.

So, try not to think about it during the week. After the weekend thinking, sweet almost time for pickup.

On monday I found a really nice all original 1943 Underwood M1 Carbine. Gave the FFL dealer a call, "hey just wanted to let you know I'm having a rifle sent your way as well"

Them: "ok, I'll just enter it in when I do the paperwork for your Sig"
    Me: "ok... ummm, wait... huh?"
Them: "oh sorry, our computer has been down. Your DROS has not been entered yet"

FUCK! All this time I'm expecting to pick it up this week, and the god damn waiting period hasn't even started yet!

I feel your pain. My local range took their sweet ass time mailing in my last FOID card renewal forms. Three weeks after I had filled them out.

Fuck that waiting period noise. It makes me proud to be an American when I walk out of my friendly local gun store hands full of baby-killing glory, and a person behind me towing out the rest of my loot.

I'll wait until I get my stufts before sharing the FFL name -- don't want to give them a reason to mess with my new toys.

what cal did you your 226 in? Mine is 9mm. I also got the .22lr conversion kit for "cheap" practice. (although it's been hard to find .22lr as well).

well, I am waiting ANOTHER 10 days since they haven't even started the DROS yet on the handgun even though I signed the paperwork over a week ago.

I'm pissed because it basically went down like this:

"oh our computer has been down, we haven't even entered your info yet. Your DROS starts when we enter it. oh, and it'll be another $65 for the rifle"

Can you PM me at least? I'll keep it quiet. I've got two transfers at two different dealers going, so I'd like to know if I should be concerned with either.

    I got a 226R in .40 s&w.

that's how much they charge to do a DROS -- basically that's their profit.

what is a DROS? Is it some california background check or something? Is NICS not good enough for your state?

its Dealer Record of Sale. some bullshit paperwork that FFLs have to do, and they charge you $25.

i've NEVER heard of DROS costing more than that, unless you're transferring the gun in which case $40 on top is pretty cheap. the two FFLs in merced charge $100 and $125 :ugh2:

then be lucky your transfer isnt more than $40 :slap:

in merced you'd be paying +100 or +125 depending on which shop you went to :ugh2:

Can/will FFL's DROS a handgun and rifle on the same form?

I've done two lowers on the same form, so I know you can do two handguns or two rifles on the same form.

What is this waiting BS you speak of. I love living in a free state where I can buy what I want when I want. CA is a great looking place but everything else about it is shit.

still subject to the 10 day "cooling off" period though right? this is CA law, he can't just turn it over to you without the wait.

even person to person transfers are subject to the 10 day wait....
