gave it to my friend to sight in and he had to screw it almost all the way out to get it sighted at 50 yd. :hs:

i'm not sure if i want to get a taller post since it would still be sticking out past the ears.

its on a flat top so i'm thinking the front sight base isn't "F." i know i can get them but i have two i'll need to change and obviously would need to find osmeone to install them. :hs:

saw off front sight, instal mbus to rail, have cool tactical flip up site, profit?

  3. Pic doesn't work. The only real way to get it to work assuming it's non an F base is to use a taller post.

my ARs are the opposite of tacticool so no. :hs:

  7. I searched briefly, but I can't find a shorter BUIS rear. If you could find one, that would be a solution.

unfortunately i think the only solution is a taller FSB. i'm sort of hesitant to go the taller post route since it would still be sticking out past the ears.

  9. You know, it's actually an odd problem. Standard and F marked FSBs are the same overall height, so even if it had a F marked FSB the post would be sticking up past the ears.

    you rebel...

  13. This is correct, but take note that the overall height is the same between the FSBs. If his post is sticking above the ears of the standard one, it'll do the same with the F marked one. The reason people use the F is so that the notched adjustment ring thing engages the detent.

It's not because of barrel length or the standard rear sight height?

Very first thing I would do is to lower the FS until it was flust with the top of the FSB then shoot it at 50 yards to confirm if it was shooting POA for me. The friend you had sight in your rifle may not of done so correctly or his eyes might have a different focal point.

The Larue BUIS doesnt not have an elevation adjustment.

This. always check for user error first and I find there is no small number of gun owners who can't sight in their guns.

If it was off I'd probably consider adding a jp float tube and a fixed front sight out on the end of it. It'd probably run something like $150 and I'd be surprised if you could get a new fsb installed for less than $50.

If it were my rifle and I was going to run irons. I would get rid of the non elevation adjustable larue rear sight and get one that is elevation adjustable. If you wanted to dope for distance it is a lot easier to adjust the rear then to use tools and adjust the FS

"and delete the elevation stuff 'cause "it's a BUIS...not a Palma match"

He made it for people who wanted something small and simple. I want to get one for an SBR since it won't shoot outside of 100 yards.

He knows how to shoot and he knows how to sight a rifle. I wouldn't have entrusted him to take care of it for me if he didn't.
