Selling my Nikon 70-300 f/4-5.6 ED now that i've upgraded to the Sigma. This is the non-VR version :)() but is NOT the cheaper G version.

btw, +1 for this lens. i took it with me on my trip to europe along with the 14-24 and 24-70 and it did awesome, got some really great shots that I couldn't have even come close to otherwise.

plenty sharp by f/6.3 or 7.1 for landscape use

Am I allowed to thread bump? It's been almost a month now and it hasn't sold. :(

how does this differ from the cheapy $100 special?

i'd love to have a 70-300VR one day to take to games. 300mm with a small light lens, but WTF price tag? $550 or something?

could you post an example or two? maybe one shot at 200-250 and 300? i'm very curious :) thx

The others aren't ED glass and weren't built as solid as this lens. The VR version is nice, but wasn't available when I purchased this lens.

    here is one at 300mm

    here is one at 145mm

300 is certainly nice enough. did you add the vignetting or is that how it shot? any post processing to clean it up / sharpen it?

Oh yeah, I was fighting with harsh lighting on the tiger shot. The statue of liberty, however, just got some contrast & blue saturation bumps.

It's a good lens, but more for the beginner who wants that range. I don't have examples, but I believe it is sharper than the 55-200, but it doesn't have the VR.

it looks pretty damn good. i hear the newer 70-300 is pretty crappy

let me do a bit of research. i live in VA so it would ship across the country. that sucks.

    is $200 your final price?

$200 is what I'd like to get shipped via fedex, but send me an offer via pm. I'm in no rush to have to sell it.

    have this lens, love it.

a little slow on focusing if you have an underpowered camera, but works great on my d200. :wiggle:
