Posting this for a buddy on another forum. He posted this on NikonCafe.com as well so you may see this for sale there too.

For sale is a lightly used Nikkor 80-200 f/2.8 lens.

The serial # indicates that it is a 2005 model.

The MF/AF selector ring is cracked beside the release button. It still works but snags on the collar. This is a common issue. Black electrical tape is a common temp/fix to keep it locked in AF.

    The lens shoots/focuses flawlessly.

Price is 650 shipped OBO (ConUS)

    Paypal only please.

Is that the AF-D or AF-S version? Seems like the former.

    99% sure the AF-S one is a 70-200

it isn't the AF-S from my knowledge...I didn't think they made this lens as an AF-S lens.

2 versions of 80-200mm: AF-s (discontinued and replaced) and older AF-d (still in production)

1 version of 70-200mm VR (replaced the 80-200mm): AF-s (now discontinued because Nikon is upgrading to the most recent VR version with NANO coating to match the recently released 14-24mm and 24-70mm)

AF-D is gear driven, and is kinda noisey when focusing. I used one, before I bought my Sigma. I found a AF-S version, and it is awesome like the 70-200 VR, but almost as pricey. They are harder to come by, and most people don't let them go very often.
