Do you know if the warranty is valid in Canada?

There is a 1 year international warranty, and one 5 year USA warranty. So you would only be good for a year.

The 1.4 will be MUCH sharper @ 1.8 and this af-s version will likely focus a good bit faster than the 1.8 af-d.

whether or not its worth $270 more...:dunno:

I'd go for the 35mm f/1.8 AF-S if I were you, thats an amazing focal length on DX

its 2/3 of a stop faster, focus is much more accurate, much more pleasing bokeh, and build quality is outstanding, much better handling, Full time manual focusing, weather sealed. and It is considered a pro lens, incase you want to become a NPS member,

i know man, i know... Sometimes i love the focal length,m sometimes i hate it. just got the 85 1.4 in. So i think i want something in the 35 range.

Was planning on buying the 35 1.8 and using it on both crop and ff. The pics ive seen up until f4, there isnt too bad of vignetting problem

well that is about the most amazing and thorough explanation ever

doesn't the 50 1.8 lack "amazing" bokeh due to the shutter having like 6 parts or something? vs 8-9 of a good lens

yeah the 35 1.8 is on order and will be here monday for me. 50 is great, but i need a closer lens for indoors

Sigma has smoother bokeh. I shoot 99% people, so that's what I got.
build wise, it seems solid enough.
Focus...havent had any problems. That's what af fine tune is for.

so i never really read in to the discussion

is it normal for the $130 50 1.8 to suck on a FF?
