When connecting my printer to my lap top, an error pops up saying that I have a power surge on my USB port. I then unplug the printer from the laptop, and reset the USB port so it works again.

I was doing my own research and it said to buy a USB hub and that will more then likely solve the problem. Alas, it did not. It still says that and now I'm just a bit frustrated that I can't use the printer anymore.
The USB hub has 4 ports, uses an AC adapter to power.

I'm currently using Windows XP SP2, and I've heard that it's XP SP2 that is causing the problem but I am unsure of it.

I'm looking for a permanent solution to this; not one that simply tells me to go into the USB properties and hide the error message. What that does is only hide it, not fix the problem. Again, I am looking for a permanent solution here.

    *big giant sigh*

    Someone, help.
