Frontier. I bought the Nismo model last month. The power is unbelieveable and addictive (265H 284T) and the 5 auto shifts seamlessly. I drove the Tacoma too, it's a good truck, but it really came down to personal preferences. You can't loose in either case.

Frontier owner myself... of course I say get a frontier. But I will say that the frontier has a more truck like ride which is rougher than the tacoma. But that is exactly why I didn't like the taco, the interior is too car like also. Another thing to consider, the Frontier runs on 87 octane while the taco requires premium and still has less power.

I'm leaning towards the frontier for now, anyways I'm still on company car so it's not for right now.

Well I have an LE crew cab which does not have upgraded suspension of the nismo. I should have pointed that out... the nismo rides rougher. I was actually comparing regular versions of both trucks.

    ok that explains then

I love those trucks, and the frontier/xterra has loads of aftermarket parts.

I want a pick up to be able to carry the motorcycle without being restrained to 55mph

Tacoma is a better made truck, I have been questioning Nissans quality lately ( I own two of them)

I just baught a 2006 Tacoma Crew Cab after comparing it to the Frontier. The thing that impressed me about the Taco was the interior. The Frontier's back seats seamed cheap and thin. The Taco has more padding and comfort and seems to recline a bit more than the Frontier (Frontier seemed too vertical for the back portion).

    Toyota trucks > Nissan trucks.

If I was in the market for a little truck, I would definitely get a Tacoma.

and really not really, unless performance is secondary to status.

Build quality is a lot better on a Toyota. I am not knocking Nissan, I own two of them. This is proven in every quality survey you can find.

As far as the new Frontiers goes, their has not been anything major at all. Only thing I had to gripe so far is the rear leaf springs were sqeaking a little over bumps but Nissan has put out a TSB on that and my dealer took care of it already. They have been quick to address any problems, I understand the Titans had alot more quality issues when it first came out. They are both great trucks, but for me the Frontier had more bang for the buck. Just test drive both, the Frontier just drives and handles better IMO...

I noticed you have the hood scoop. Is that part of a package? I can't find it listed, and not all the taco's seem to have it. Also what options did you select? I am considering a taco right now. I like the chrome surround on the grill, but it does not seem to be available on the trd package. Is it still available as an aditional option?

if you'll be looking for aftermarket parts - i'd probably go for the TRD. If you're looking for sometihng with more ground clearance stock, I'd go for the TRD. If you are wanting one that barely beats the Nismo in performance, get the TRD (according to magazines).

that being said - my 05 Nismo was $27k. It was a little cheaper than the Taco, and in all honesty, I never even looked at the Taco. Not because I didn't want to, but because it literally never crossed my mind to look at it.

Toyota has much greater aftermarket support, as mentioned. And the resale value is better.

However, if you're gonna keep the truck forever, and won't mod it, and you want the *short* bed, I like the Nissan better. Damn that 6-speed is smooth on the nissan.

But if you want a decent bed, the Toyota is the only option. I wish nissan would bring back the "long" bed.

I have been looking into getting a tacoma also. TRD comes in two flavors. One is sport and one is off road. The TRD sport comes with the hood scoop.
