From 1979-1995 the Mazda RX-7 was the worlds greatest sports car.

In terms of bang for the buck, fun to drive factor, professional racing titles etc.

If it wasn't THE greatest, it was one of the top three.

"bang for the buck" implies that it was somewhat reliable and cheap to obtain and mantain.

5.0 Mustang gave much more performance- however was not involved in the same professional racing series as the rotary, so you can't compare the two.

stating that ANY car in any rance is the best sports car is asinine.

Not true. Go buy an 88 BMW M3 and tell me that you dont have more of a blast driving that baby around than your RX

FC is my favorite style...so understated, yet so good looking.

FD was WAY ahead of its time. The FD could be selling today as a brand new car and with an interior freshening, it would still look exotic on the dealership lot.

    Depending on the racing.

Road course, I'd go with an M3
Autox, I'd go with a Miata
    Drag racing, I'd go with a 5.0

Yeah it was a damn good car then. It's a shame they don't last.
